Video for the Occasion (World Series)

WoooHooo! Go Yankees!

This video is a little out of date, I believe it's from a few years ago. However, still relevant today with the World Series under way!

I came across a group of Yankees fans the other day on the train and they were a younger version of the guys in this video. They had baseball shirts that read 'Go Yankees' and one cracked a beer open in the train station (on his baseball cap!). Then they proceeded to start up a chant with the street performers on the platform. Let's Go Yankees *clap clap*

Well, "Only in New York". I couldn't say it better myself.

Share a Shoulder

I've never seen any promotion like this in my life!To promote their cell phone company targeted towards teenagers and young adults, this company had a 'Broad Shoulders' campaign. The whole idea was that shorter concert-goers could rent-a-shoulder to be able to see the show.

Sure beats platform shoes.

So the men stood around enticing young women with their red striped t-shirts and big shoulders. This was their promo video from the event. Overall, I'd say that was more effective than a promotional cell phone holder or case.

Ellen Attempts Promo Videos. Failed, but Hilarious.

I love Ellen! Even her promotional videos get me laughing like there's no tomorrow. If you've never watched the show you should take a look at it. She's my favorite feel-good comedian and loves to give out crazy gifts to her guests (Ellen underwear is a favorite, along with socks, robes and even a few personalized paintings thrown in!). Plus, if you can't dance but like to try- well, so does Ellen!

Ah, I love her to death.

Also check out this one for her international promo outtakes!

Promotional Videos Against Abuse

Sorry for the break in hilarity, but this video touched me enough that I had to pass it along. The power of advertising when put towards a worthy cause always gives me tingles inside.

This video was done by NAPCAN, an Australian children's advocacy organization. They run programs meant to derail child abuse and stop the vicious cycle created by the mistreatment of children.

In order to further spread their programs, NAPCAN holds child-friendly events across Australia and including child friendly prizes like games and t-shirts. With increased awareness of their mission, they may be able to prevent a fraction of the 30,000 cases of child abuse in Australia that occur every year.

The Best Commercial Ever

The first time I saw this commercial I instantly copied the link and forwarded it to over 200 of my closest friends. I still laugh every time it makes it's way into my inbox.

Unfortunately, I don't really understand the promotion (explanations more than welcome). OIGC, a Canadian golf center put the ad out during it's first major campaign. While it attracted tons of attention I'm not sure it did a very good job of describing the product or service. Or maybe I just need simple things like advertisement messages spelled out on a banner.

Maybe some golf balls thrown in there would have helped?

Charlie the Unicorn has Become an Advertisement?

For anyone who hasn't seen Charlie the Unicorn, you're missing out on a world of hilarity. YouTube capitalized on Charlie's viral success by integrating him into their recent advertising campaign for YouTube Live.

Being a huge fan of Charlie the Unicorn myself (and keeping the video handy on my mp4 player!), I instantly fell in love with this video. Even without knowing exactly what YouTube live is, I have the urge to run off to print up bumper stickers and pass the word along- solely for my love of Charlie and his endorsement!

Now that's a powerful campaign.

Breast Cancer Awareness: Good for a Comedy Sketch?

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and aside from the usual Breast Cancer t-shirts, awareness efforts are becoming more and more creative.

Throughout the month the NFL is sporting pink sweatbands and cleats to raise awareness. The Crucial Catch campaign is making a huge slash in the news, bringing more and more attention to such a critical affliction.

Alyson Hannigan made her own PSA in true comedic fashion with the above video proving not all promotions need to be serious, even when fighting for a serious cause.

You can support the cause as well by hosting your own fundraiser. Grab some of your own pink sweatbands and wear them during sports, or hand out breast cancer awareness pens in the office. Every action makes a difference when it comes to cancer.

Nike Men vs. Women

Nike is hosting the Men vs. Women Challenge of 09 up until the last month of this year. For 365 days men and women are tracking their distance online to see who can accumulate the most amount of miles. So far, women seem to be lagging.

Being a former runner myself, this video inspired me enough to log on and create a NikePlus account. So I encourage all my fellow women out there to grab your sweats and pedometers and hit the road! Go out and buy a motivational CD for your Mp3 player, if necessary. Anything it takes. We need to rack up the miles and kick those boys' butts!

Promo Video Promoting Promotions

Here's a great video promoting great promotions! What could be better?

I think the eyeballs on the bus are the most interesting thing I've seen in a long time. Both creepy and incredible all at once!

Check out this PromotionalBagsBlog and GuerillaPromos blog for some more creative advertisements and promotions. Something like a well placed poster or creative gift bag could get any company the kind of publicity reserved for out-of-the-box promotions.
