Ping Pong with Nunchucks—Bruce Lee and Nokia

Firstly, Bruce Lee is a legend, demonstrating his awesome martial arts skills both in film and in real life. His death is STILL a mystery to me!

This is a great viral video by Nokia to promote the launch of their new phone—the Nokia N96 Bruce Lee Special Edition N96.

This guerrilla marketing endeavor is definitely a hit not only amongst Chinese target market but worldwide. Only Bruce Lee can play ping pong with nunchucks and not be questioned! I don’t know if the actual video is real because the man passed 35 years ago, unless this is a video from some lost archive of miscellaneous Bruce Lee footage. It’s still an awesome video though.

KFC—Space Invader

The first visible logo from space?!?! Is it a reality or a KFC untruth?

Funny enough this KFC logo supposedly large enough to see from space was set up in the Nevada desert as a publicity stunt (2006) for KFC’s viral marketing initiative. They even had the logo on Google Earth, which offers satellite images for your regional search purposes (even though the KFC logo on Google Earth should have been of much higher resolution).

Combining guerrilla marketing and the concept of being larger than life is a great way to promote a brand as long as the campaign also long as the plan is of high caliber, is well thought out, and is fully executed for the sake of your brand’s image.

Escalator Hair

How does he keep his hair looking so great? Let’s watch!

This guerilla promotion from Juice Salon is a great use of the mall’s escalators to show the hairstyling options existing at the salon. Using the mall escalators as somewhat of a PowerPoint presentation for the series of hair styles is a clever way to leverage the mall’s foot traffic.

I wonder if Juice Salon coupled this guerilla marketing campaign with giving out personal care promotional products.

Great Beer Promotions

What does it take to promote a great beer? Does it take viral marketing? Guerrilla marketing? Something newsworthy? What about a combination of all these.

That is exactly how The Golden Fire beer was promoted. I really like how they used promotional door hangers in the guerrilla marketing campaign.

Is This Real? Free IPOD Service?

A promotional giveaway like an iPod is a great deal. “Your Free iStuff” pretty much states that they reward you for following directions. According to this video and many others about this “Your Free iStuff” phenomenon, people actually received their free iPods or related rewards.

I do believe they require your credit card information so do your research and read the website meticulously for fine print!

Think Outside the Box: Guerrilla Marketing

Check out this video that combines buzz animations with guerrilla marketing techniques to encourage companies to think outside the box when it comes to promotions. The video suggests that companies use free giveaways, street campaigns and web-based marketing to spark “buzz” amongst consumers. Here, DKNY gives away free samples of their perfume. They might also have considered giving away small promotional toiletry pouches with the gift to ensure that customers remember the brand.

You! Buy! Windows! Now!

Holy retro Microsoft commercial, Batman! It wasn't clear at first whether Steve Ballmer was trying to sell an operating system, or a high-dose combination of coffee and methamphetamine. But he certainly gets your attention quickly, spews out a slew of information about Windows 1.0, and then convinces you that the price tag is exceptionally low.

This commercial is like the precursor to all of those hour-long infomercials we have today, condensed down to a single minute. To bad he didn't follow up his price-slashing with a free mousepad or coffee mug giveaways to encourage people to "buy now!"
