Sportlife, one of Netherland's biggest gum brands launched a guerrilla 'beamvertising' campaign to draw attention to a promotion called "Can you make it to the pack?" The marketing team shot a skateboarder against a black background and projected the image against buildings in Rotterdam.
Beamvertising is certainly a very effective way to grab attention in urban areas at night, but due to the constant motion, I have to wonder how many people actually got to see the "Can you make it to the pack?" and "www.sportslife.com" copy. Check out the T.V. spot for this particular ad campaign here.

HCW Guerrilla
The Belgian advertising agency, Focus Advertising, created this simple, yet effective guerrilla promotion for the computer and software chain, HCW. The marketing team piqued the curiosity of pedestrians by laying down a trail of pixelated computer arrows around major transportation hubs in Antwerp.
The promotional stickers trail pointed curious passersby toward the direction of the new HCW computer store and was highly successful in raising consumer awareness in a remarkably cost effective way.

Sol Sunscreen Swabbing
Sol, a Mexican beer brand, took advantage of the old marketing adage that 'sex sells' in this guerrilla marketing campaign in Florianópolis, Brazil. Armed with promotional sunscreen lotion, the marketing team approached beach goers with offers of a free 'suncreen swabbing' from their team of hot models. Those who accepted were also offered free samples of ice-cold Sol beer.
This promotional stunt is particularly clever because it worked out perfectly for the brand on so many levels. The sunny beach is the perfect location to associate with a brand whose name means "sun," which in turn ties in the connection to the sunscreen lotion promotion. The use of sexy models also fits perfectly with the company's desire to build a sassy brand image.

Promotions In Motion - Bendeez ® Original Flat Sided Stick
The Bendeez stick makes a fun promotional toy giveaway that the recipients will find difficult to put down once they start playing with it.
As excellent stress relievers and physical therapy tools, this fun item also gives you an unique alternative to the more common stress balls giveaways at trade shows.

Ambient Bicycle Ads
Here's a cool guerrilla marketing campaign featuring bicycle billboards. The bikers don bright promotional jackets and ride around the city towing the billboard behind their bikes.
As you can see from the reactions of the passersby their strategy was very effective at grabbing attention. Since, they are moving around the city, chances are high at the ad was seen by more people than static billboards and best of all, it probably didn't cost any more than the traditional approach.

City Attacked by 15 Foot Red Ball
The city of Portland, Oregon was overtaken by a massive red ball. This promotional ball was a stunt that really makes me think about how people are effected by promotions.
It is funny to see how children will run up and play with this giant red ball, and adults will try and pretend that it isn't even there. How will people react to your promotional campaigns all depends on how it is presented.
Depending on your target audience sometimes the simplest promotions can be the most effective.

Live at the SES Conference in New York: Promo Candy
Here is a continuing look at the SES Conference in New York from a few weeks ago. This booth gave out promotional candy which did seem to be attracting a lot of booth visitors.
Custom, imprinted candy is always an effective promotional giveaway. When you want to hit the sweet tooth of your target audience promotional chocolate is certainly the best way to do it.

Live at the SES Conference in New York: Flashing Dice
Here is some more video of the SES Conference in NYC. One of the trade show booths that caught my eye was this one using promotional flashing dice, or die in this case. This is a fun way to promote your brand, you can even incorporate this promotional item into your presentation. You can have the die be rolled by your visitors. The number it lands on will determine which product you talk about in your presentation.
All in all this was a great giveaway at the conference. I even grabbed a few for other people who just love free trade show giveaways.
