Video Game Street Marketing

When I saw this video I was really excited. The author of this video said she was told that if she achieved 400 points she'd win a free promotional t-shirt. I still haven't played the game myself, but I would have really liked to have gotten one of those t-shirts.

This was a great promotion that encouraged people to test out the game and have the chance to win free stuff. There is nothing better than that.

Live at the SES Conference in New York: Promotional Cards

Here is another look at the SES conference that I visited last week. This booth employee discusses how he uses these promotional playing cards to help inform his booth visitors all about the services his company, lifetips.com, provides.

The best part about his trade show giveaway is that they actually perform the function of what his company does. They offer tips for life and work, to help you grow your business.

Promotions In Motion - USB Mug Warmer

A USB Mug Warmer is a handy desktop item for both your clients and your employees. When you employees are working hard they may forget about that cup of coffee they brought in with them during their commute. You can help them keep that coffee or tea hot while they are working so that when they are looking for a quick caffeine fix, they already have a nice warm drink ready and waiting.

Live at the SES Conference in New York: abcsearch sonic rocks

Last week I went and spent some time at the SES Conference and Expo in New York City. I checked out a lot of expo booths and they all had some very interesting and unique promotional giveaways.

One of my favorite products are these promotional sonic rocks that abcsearch were giving away at their booth.

Thriller Night

With the anniversary of Michael Jackson's hit album Thriller, I saw this great video and thought it would be appropriate. This is a great video because though not a marketing campaign it represents the idea behind guerrilla marketing strategies.

A busy part of the city like Chinatown and just start dancing in the streets. What an amazing way to catch attention now only if they had some promotional bobbleheads that look like Michael Jackson.

Riot Over Promos

With the increasing popularity of video upload sites it is no wonder that they begin to start competing with each other. CashTomato.com staged a publicity stunt in Union Square in NYC on February 29th. At 2:29, they were supposed to give out envelopes with $29 to random people in the crowd. Poor planning and an even worse execution lead to a small riot.

I think in this situation promotional tomato stress balls would have been a lot safer, and probably more effective. A promotional product lasts much longer than $29 dollars could, especially in New York City.

Promotions In Motion - Action Message Dice

Here is another really cool product I saw recently. It is a great desktop item for your clients and employees to put on their desks. It is a great motivational tool for your employees, or it can be used to build team morale.

The action message dice are the perfect way to build a positive message about your company. With the messages on these dice you can easily motivate your clients towards a sale, or improve the performance of your employees. It is a great way to get things rolling.

Adventure Everywhere

A really cool guerrilla promo for adventureone, the idea behind this promotion seems to be that everywhere is an adventure. Emphasizing this was the harness that the street team hung from in buses, off lamp posts, off fences, and in subway cars.

This promotion didn't really interact with any people. What would have strengthened this promotion would have been some promotional outdoors and sports items. At least then people would have been interested in finding out why these people were just hanging off things.

Interactive Fan For Australian Football Federation

Here is a video of a Football Federation Australia advertisment. Talk about a real fan of the game. This promo is pretty cool, each button represents an emotion many sports fans go through. Depending on which button is stepped on the "interactive fan" will act out that emotion.

The one thing I noticed that would have made a stronger impression would have been if the people who stepped on the buttons recieved a promotional item. Maybe even play on the word fan by handing out promotional fans.

Yogurt Extravaganza

This guerilla promotion from Yoplait demonstrates the lengths a company can go in promoting its brand if it has the necessary resources. Yoplait set up a veritable concert to entertain attendees and spread the word about the brand. Although it was incredibly entertaining, the company should have gone an extra step and incorporated promotional products into the actual show.
